Focused on the philosophical discussion of spirituality, with a large focus on the Christian God in particular.

While most approach the subject of God from a theological point of view, often using the Bible for support, the Metaphysical Poets approached the subject from a logical and reasonable point of view.

The most recogized among the poets was John Donne, who discussed many important contemporary topics including sexual realism and psychological analysis – against the conservative views of their religion.

Other poets include John Milton, Richard Crashaw, Henry Vaughn and Abraham Cowley.
